Glossary
Conversation memory is the ability of an AI system to remember details from earlier messages with the same contact, so it doesn't ask the same question twice or lose context between replies. In a lead-response tool, that means a follow-up email or text sent days later still reflects what was discussed the first time.
Without conversation memory, each new message from a lead is treated as if it's the first one — which can mean asking a customer for information they already provided, or losing track of what they were originally asking about. That reads as sloppy and can cost a business the lead.
With conversation memory, the AI system keeps a record of prior messages tied to a specific contact (by email address or phone number) and references that history when generating a new reply, so the conversation stays coherent across multiple exchanges — even if they're days apart.
CloseReply's Conversation Memory feature (available on the Growth plan and above) lets the Email Agent and SMS Agent reference earlier threads with the same lead, rather than starting from zero on every message.
